Complexity is the Enemy of Execution

Hey There,Maze-Simplify-Landing-Page

A quick thought for you today; Complexity is the enemy of execution.

I see this theme play over and over in my 1:1 coaching sessions. And if I’m honest, I see it play out in my own work at times as well.

The more complex a task seems, the less chance there is of it getting done.

That’s why I like simple, actionable axioms such as, “Do the closest thing to money first” (per Peter Leffkowitz), and “Aim for 1 sendout (interview) per day and whatever else you can get done by 5pm”.

Wherever possible, gravitate towards minimalism on your desk. Ask, “What tasks can I subtract in order to gain clarity and leverage”?

I’ll leave you with a related quote from Einstein that I absolutely love, “Everything Should Be Made as Simple as Possible, But Not Simpler”.

Good hunting.
